Synopsis

The play is a "black comedy" that unravels a complex love quadrangle between two close-knit families. A seemingly innocent joke entangles the characters in a whirlwind of uncontrollable events, taking them from a quiet evening at home to a surreal and dangerous situation.

"A series of situational fragments unfold, weaving around themes of jealousy, monogamy in modern European marriages, and a fictional plot born from wounded male ego. The blend of suspense, black comedy, and horror gives the production a distinctive character, exploring how far we can go when betrayed by those closest to us," shares young director Nadya Pancheva. The creative team includes set designer Yasmin Mandeli and composer Milen Apostolov. The English translation is by Mihaela Katsarova.

"On stage, as in life, I am always fascinated by how small lies can trigger events leading to devastating consequences. Especially in a couple, where one person’s lies can expose the secrets of the other," said Jean-Pierre Martinez in an interview for Sofia Theatre.

He is one of the most successful contemporary French—and arguably European—playwrights, with around 400 stage productions each year, particularly in Europe and Latin America. His 101 comedies are known for their accessibility and unique universe, populated with characters who are simultaneously funny, moving, and deeply relatable.
